Serious Satire primed for NZ Guineas

Stephen Marsh is keeping an open mind about what NZ Guineas he will target with More Than Ready filly Serious Satire.

Serious Satire holds nominations for the 1000 Guineas and 2000 Guineas at Riccarton next month and Marsh has yet to choose her primary goal.  She is in the 1000 Guineas as a $3.50 favourite while the 2000 Guineas remains an outside alternative for which she is a $10 chance against the colts.

Events over the Labour Weekend will firm up plans with Serious Satire to step out in Monday’s G3 Sarten Memorial at Te Rapa.  “She has had two trips to Hastings and this is her semi-final,” Marsh said.  “The Sarten is only half an hour down the road.  It’s a lot easier on her and she only needs to be out of her box for three hours.

“She hasn’t missed a beat since winning the Gold Trail and could be the real deal.”

Serious Satire won her maiden at Hastings in August and then stepped up with a special performance in the G3 Gold Trail Stakes at the same venue on October 3.  She is a homebred for Auckland based David Paykel and More Than Ready sired her from G2 Great Northern Guineas winner Zarzuela (Zabeel).
