Second chance at stud for Starspangledbanner

Starspangledbanner is to get a second chance as a sire at Rosemont Stud in Victoria.  The six year-old stallion will return from Ireland to the farm where he was foaled and raised.

Starspangledbanner (6h Choisir – Gold Anthem by Made Of Gold) was a G1 winner of the Caulfield Guineas and Oakleigh Plate before his connections accepted a huge offer from Coolmore Stud.  Subsequently transferred to Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O’Brien, he added G1 victories in the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot and July Cup at Newmarket.

Retired to Coolmore’s Irish headquarters, he encountered fertility problems but still impregnated around 60 mares.  He returned to racing but didn’t recapture winning form in six starts last year.

Rosemont owner Anthony Mithen stands Danzero and Toorak Toff at his Gnarwarre nursery.  Starspangledbanner’s book will be restricted and a fee will be determined at a later date.
