Sears Hooked on Gold Coast

Pinhook Bloodstock (FBAA) paid $160,000 for a colt by boom sire All Too Hard at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale on Wednesday.

Offered by Baramul Stud, he’s out a sister to G2 Schillaci Stakes winner Halibery (Red Ransom) and was purchased in conjunction with Tony Sears.  The colt had clocked 10.59s for 200m before the Sale.

“I got him ready for Gerry Harvey so I know a bit about him,” the Toowoomba trainer said.  “He breezed up really nicely and I think there’s a good future for him.  We bought him for overseas-based clients and he won’t be ready to race until later this season.”

Pinhook’s Dave Mee, who was coming off international wins by Star Superior (HK) and Bevan Street (NZ), also parted with $50,000 for a Toorak Toff colt from Jackpot Queen.  The Not A Single Doubt mare won the 2011 Wellington Boot before graduating to further juvenile victories at Randwick, Flemington and Caulfield.

“There’s a lot of Not A Single Doubt about him,” Mee said.  “He’s a proper horse and I’m absolutely stoked to secure him.  He heads to Tony Sears, too.”

Mee and the team at Fairhill Farm were also on good terms after the Stratum – Brightlands Star colt made $240,000 on the Gold Coast.  He bought five mares for Fairhill Farm owners Mike and Debbie O’Donnell at the Magic Millions National Sale in June including Brightlands Star for just $22,000.

The Starcraft mare was positive to Scissor Kick and she foaled a spunky colt by the Arrowfield sire just hours before his older half-brother was purchased by Gary Moore for Macau client Jason Tam.

Pinhook’s Gold Coast buys join a Starcraft colt purchased for $65,000 at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in Melbourne earlier this month.  Bred at Rangal Park, he is from Perth stakes winner Stage Doll (Serheed).
