Group 1 Italian Gran Criterium winner Scintillo (GB) has been selected as foundation stallion for Glen Eden Agistment.
“He’s beautifully bred and is Fantastic Light’s highest rated son out of French 1000 Guineas winner Danseuse du Soir,” Glen Eden’s managing owner Sonia O’Gorman (nee Carboni) said. “He is the only son of Fantastic Light standing at stud in Australia providing local breeders a great opportunity to tap into that pedigree line.”
Scintillo was purchased by Victorian owner Len Lucas to be aimed at the 2012 Melbourne Cup but was sidelined with a career-ending suspensory injury. He initially retired to Ridgeview Park and, from a handful of mares test-bred first-up, has four unnamed 2yo colts and fillies.
“He certainly throws a very nice horse based on what I have seen,” O’Gorman said. “He’s a cheeky bugger but there’s no nastiness.”
Scintillo stands at Glen Eden, which is located north of Kilmore, for a $3,300 (inc gst) fee. O’Gorman can be contacted on 0407 811 411 for more information.
