Schiffer rebounds in Magic Millions Sprint

Schiffer returned to the Gold Coast on Saturday to score a brilliant victory in the Magic Millions Sprint on Saturday.

Schiffer (3f Snitzel – Modave by Montjeu) was placed behind Karuta Queen in the 2011 Magic Millions 2YO Classic but this year’s result was never in doubt.

“I didn’t think she would go that quick,” trainer Gerald Ryan said.  “I was confident she would run well after we worked her in blinkers this week.  She fair dinkum lit up the track at Rosehill.”

Ryan has a stable full of Snitzels and he prepares Schiffer for Perth based owners Elio and Jacqui Galante along with George McDonald and Damien Flower.  “I told Elio she could win,” Ryan admitted.  “She beat an eventual Group 1winner (Benfica) the last time she struck a dry track at Randwick.”

Schiffer is by Arrowfield resident Snitzel and was a $240,000 graduate of the Arrowfield Stud consignment at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale.

Her dam Modave is an unraced sister to Avondale Gold Cup winner Sharvasti and a half-sister to the G3 NZ winners Bhandara (Zabeel) and Shastri (Stravinsky).  Second dam Vedodara won the 1994 NZ Magic Millions Classic and LR Hawke’s Bay Guineas.

Modave foaled a Snitzel filly in October and was then bred back to the Arrowfield resident.
