Scenic Lodge signs Snippetson

In a major coup for the local breeding industry, Scenic Lodge is proud to announce high-profile Hunter Valley stallion Snippetson has been secured to stand in Western Australia.

In a deal brokered by bloodstock agent Grant Burns, Scenic Lodge has acquired a majority shareholding in the proven son of Champion Australian sire Snippets.

“Snippetson is a very exciting addition to our stallion ranks,” Burns said this week.  “He sires cracking types – just like himself – and they have always been well received at the yearling sales.

“Two of his colts sold for $70,000 at the Perth Magic Millions last month and a filly made $50,000.  They were standouts and he’s already had plenty of success with his stock that have already raced over here like Rebelson, Right Time, Ave the Snip and Precious Snippets.”

Snippetson has been popular with breeders and has big numbers coming through the ranks with 143 rising two year-olds.

Still only 13, Snippetson has sired 252 individual winners at a very high 63% strike-rate.  He’s a prime example of the typical Australian stallion that produces tough, fast, strong types that suit our tracks and conditions.

There have been 7 stakes winners to date – Snippets Land claimed the latest black-type in the LR National Sprint (1400m) in Canberra on March 8.  The Peter Snowden trained four year-old hasn’t missed banking a cheque in all 12 starts!

Snippetson went through the $2 million mark in progeny earnings this season when his two year-old My Poppette christened Pakenham’s new racecourse last Thursday.  The Colin Alderson trained filly won’t be long trekking to town after sprinting home to win a 1200m maiden on debut.

“We identified Snippetson as the ideal stallion for the WA market some time ago,” Scenic Lodge general manager Jeremy Smith said.  “He provides great depth to our roster and Sunspeed breeders can book into him knowing he’s a proven commercial stallion.”

Snippetson will provide Scenic Lodge with a very strong roster this season.  The Muchea nursery is home to WA Champion Blackfriars who has won the last four Sunspeed titles.

Associate sire Universal Ruler is the hottest young stallion in the State with 19 second-crop winners from just 32 starters this season.  And Dash For Cash continues to churn out the winners – he has sired the winners of 46 races and they have earned over $808,000.

Service fees for all four Scenic Lodge stallions will be announced in April.
