Vinery shuttler Big Brown has a golden opportunity to register his first stakes-winner at Saratoga on Friday.
His filly Brown Eyes Blue will be one of the favourites for the G3 Schuylerville Stakes over 1200m. The Dale Romans filly is coming off a debut win at Churchill Downs on June 30.
Brown Eyes Blue (2f Big Brown – Golden Lips by Silver Ghost) made $180,000 at the 2012 Keeneland 2YO Sale in April and her owners Twin Creeks Racing will recoup most of that with a win in the $150,000 feature on opening day at the Spa.
A field of seven fillies will go to the post for the Schuylerville and hardest to beat will be So Many Ways (Sightseeing) and Sweet Shirley Mae (Broken Vow). Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher can never be underestimated and he’s going for a fifth Schuylerville with Can’t Explain (Not For Love)
Big Brown is by Boundary (Danzig) and won 7 of his 8 starts including the G1 Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Haskell Invitation and Florida Derby. He will shuttle to Vinery for a $22,000 fee this year.
