Santics downsize Makybe

Makybe owners Tony and Deslee Santic have downsized their showpiece stud on the Barwon River in Victoria.

Nearly half of the 3200 acre property has been sold and resident stallion Purrealist will be transferred.  Makybe shuttles Street Hero from Vinery and he will also be relocated.

Established in 2006 under the name of Santic’s triple Melbourne Cup winning mare, Makybe has also produced the Group and Listed winners Starspangledbanner, Arapaho Miss, Better Be The One, Exceedingly Good, Musket, Corsaire, Zupacool, King Diamond, Specter, etc.

Makybe Racing & Breeding will maintain a strong racing team and continue to send yearlings to the major yearling sales.  “Makybe will be a boutique operation managing our own bloodstock as opposed to commercially offering all services of a stallion farm,” Tony Santic stated.  “We will be reducing our broodmare portfolio over the next 12 months but will continue to reinvest in quality bloodstock.”
