Samaready rules in Reisling Stakes

Samaready threw down the gauntlet to her Golden Slipper rivals with a clear-cut victory in the G2 Reisling Stakes on Saturday.

Samaready (2f More Than Ready – Samar by Secret Savings) is now a $2.50 favourite for the world’s richest two-year-old race on April 7.  Settled near the back of the small field under Craig Newitt, the Victorian visitor circled the field before surging clear for a two length victory over Hussousa and Meidung.

“If she had of run second I would have been disappointed,” trainer Mick Price said.  “But I’ve tried to allow plenty of improvement into the Slipper.  She’s ready and probably needs one gallop on Tuesday week to be right.”

Samaready clocked 1:12.05s for 1200m which was slightly quicker than Pierro in the Todman Stakes for colts and geldings earlier in the day.

Bred by Gerry Harvey, Samaready was sold by Vinery Stud at the 2011 Inglis Easter yearling sale for $150,000.  She had won the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes last month and has now earned $915,150 leading into the $3.50 million Golden Slipper.

Vinery’s Champion stallion More Than Ready has already sired Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Phelan Ready.  Samaready is a younger half-sister to top-class Perth filly Night War (General Nediym) who has won the G2 Karrakatta Plate, G3 Lee-Steere Classic and WA Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in the last twelve months.

More Than Ready has 30 catalogued for the Inglis Easter yearling sale in April.
