Saluter delivers in Magic Millions Guineas

Darley stallion Commands had been overdue at the Magic Millions and he delivered with Saluter in the $1 million 3YO Guineas on Saturday.

Commands has captured the Australian winners’ title three times, however, his only other feature winner at the Gold Coast Grand Finals was Keen Commander in the 2009 Magic Millions Sprint.

Saluter (3c Commands – Rosekay Heart by Show A Heart) was well positioned before hitting the front in the shadows of the post to defeat fancied runners Sizzling and Driefontein.  “He’s been the unluckiest horse ever,” trainer Jason McLachlan said.  “The owners thought I was a little bit silly but I really thought he would nearly win this race.”

Saluter was an $80,000 purchase for Slade Bloodstock at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He is from Brisbane winner Rosekay Heart who has a 2yo colt named Forty Nil Manly (Real Saga).  The mare was bred back to Commands in October.
