Aged 33, he had initially retired to Arrowfield Stud in 1989 before transferring to Paumah Stud at the mouth of the Murray River.  He remained at the same property while it traded under Lakewood Stud, Rivers End Stud and Rosden Park.

Bellotto (USA) was raced by Prince Khalid Abdullah and was placed in the 1987 English 2000 Guineas won by Don’t Forget Me and English Derby won by Reference Point.

He sired 45 stakes winners including Group 1 stars Bellzevir (Goodwood Hcp), Bullwinkle (SA Derby), Exalted Time (Adelaide Cup), Littorio (The BMW & Turnbull Stakes), My Brightia (VRC Oaks) & Zip Zip Aray (Goodwood Hcp).

Bellotto (Mr Prospector) is the broodmare sire of 30 stakes-winners headed by Group I winners Miss Danehill & Coniston Bluebird.  His stakes winning son Clang also sired Group 1 winners Calaway Gal (Golden Slipper) & Clangalang (Australian Derby).
