Ripper result at Caulfield

More Than Ready galloper Ready To Rip will be set for a feature race hat-trick after a half-length victory in the LR Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Ready To Rip (4g More Than Ready – Lady Langham by Danehill) powered home to defeat pacemakers Zamorar (Scandal Keeper) and Dusty Star (General Nediym).  He was coming off a first-up victory in the LR All Victorian Sprint Final (1200m) at Flemington on July 7.

Trainer Peter Moody will now aim him for the G2 Lawrence Stakes (1400m) back at Caulfield in a fortnight.  ”We’re still learning about him,” Moody said.  “But what we know already is that he’s a very honest, genuine horse with a fair share of ability.

The former Queensland trained sprinter is a $55,000 graduate of Baramul Stud’s draft at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  “His owners deliberately missed this year’s Brisbane winter carnival to give him his best chance down here and he’s made the decision a good one.”

Ready To Rip is a younger half-brother to Sir Lago (Encosta de Lago) who was G3 placed in the 2006 Norman Robinson Stakes at Caulfield before going on to a successful career in Hong Kong.  He also hails from the extended family of More Than Ready’s champion mare More Joyous.

Vinery champion More Than Ready has sired 99 stakes winners and is poised to join the likes of Sunday Silence, Red Ransom, Danehill, Northern Dancer, Storm Cat and Mr Prospector once his century rolls over in the near future.
