Rhinebeck standing at Cora-Lynn Stud

Rhinebeck will stand his first commercial season at Cora-Lynn Stud in Lancefield this year.

The regally bred son of champion sire Encosta de Lago covered 20 mares last year and will now be promoted to a wider audience of Super VOBIS breeders by his owner Jacqui Berrill.

Berrill was part of the Newgate Farm team that prepped Rhinebeck for the 2011 Inglis Easter yearling sale where he made $200,000.  “From Day 1 he was just a lovely horse,” she recalled.  “He had a great nature and a terrific attitude.”

Rhinebeck (5h Encosta de Lago – Aqua D’Amore by Danehill) was injured and didn’t race but Berrill didn’t need to give it a second thought when he was put up for sale as a stallion prospect.

“I was so happy to take him on.  I knew that he was well bred enough to produce a good horse and I am thrilled with the way he has matured – he has grown into a lovely big horse who just floats along the ground.”

Berrill is looking forward to the arrival of his first foals and a bigger book this spring at a $2,750 (inc gst) service fee.

Rhinebeck is bred on the same Encosta de Lago – Danehill cross as Zoustar, Delago Deluxe and Chautauqua.  His dam Aqua D’Amore won the G1 Futurity Stakes, G2 Villiers Stakes & G3 Eclipse Stakes and she is a three-quarter sister to last year’s G2 Sandown Guineas winner Petrology.
