Remarkable reserved for Newcastle Newmarket

Roger James has reserved He’s Remarkable for the G3 Newcastle Newmarket next Wednesday.  The Cambridge trainer scratched the Pentire galloper from his intended engagement at Te Rapa on Saturday.

“He’s really well but I’m keen on starting off in Australia,” James said.  “A win at Newcastle will elevate his rating.”

He’s Remarkable (4h Pentire – Axiom by Zabeel) has pulled up well after an exhibition gallop at Matamata on Wednesday.  “It may not have looked too flash but he worked hard in the early stages,” James added.  “He’s going into a nice race fresh with a view to getting him in the Doncaster.”

He’s Remarkable cost $360,000 from Rich Hill at the 2009 NZB Karaka Premier Sale draft at Karaka.  His dam Axiom is a daughter of G2 Villiers Stakes winner Arletty and the family includes G1 winners Legs and Guyno.

His second run back from a break will be in the G1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on April 7 ahead of the G1 Doncaster Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on April 21.

The NZ bred gelding has been off the scene since losing the G1 Railway Stakes in the stewards’ room in November.   His connections appealed the controversial decision but West Australian Racing Tribunal chairman Dan Mossenson rejected their application.

Rich Hill has entered five lots for the Inglis Easter yearling sale including Pentire colts from Danbourne (Lot 116) and Gondolin (Lot 188).  The Danbourne colt is from a three-quarter sister to G1 Brisbane Cup winner Danestorm.  The Gondolin colt is a brother to Moonee Valley Night Cup winner Pergola.

Rich Hill has also catalogued yearlings by champion sires Zabeel (2) and O’Reilly for the Sydney Easter Sale.  The O’Reilly colt (Lot 10) is a half-brother the stakes winners Only Worlds, Gibraltar Campion and the dam of current three year-old star Darci Be Good.
