Redoute’s sireline continues upward spiral

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice celebrated in style when racing returned to Randwick on Saturday.

The Arrowfield breed-shaper increased his black-type tally to 84 winners of 175 stakes races thanks to Maules Creek in the LR Randwick City Quality (2000m).

Maules Creek (4g Redoute’s Choice – Bramble Rose by Shinko King) was a $400,000 buy for Patinack Farm at the 2009 Inglis Easter yearling sale.  “I don’t think he really handles the wet but is going that well I left him in,” trainer John Thompson revealed.  “He’s fit and now we might look at the Wagga Cup in May.”

Patinack won the Randwick City Quality with Saint Encosta last year.  This year’s event was also run on the eighth anniversary of the New Zealand Oaks won by Bramble Rose.

Bramble Rose was named 2003 NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year and she foaled Maules Creek second-up.  Her Sebring filly failed to reach a $150,000 reserve at the NZB Karaka yearling sale last month.

The Redoute’s Choice sireline continued its upward spiral on both sides of the Tasman on Saturday.  His son Duelled was represented by his second stakes winner when Guns at Five claimed the Listed NZ St Leger at Trentham.

It followed the Listed St Albans Stakes victory of Underestimation at Moonee Valley on Friday night.  His sire Al Samer is one of nine Redoute’s Choice sons who have been credited with a stakes winner.

Redoute’s Choice has a star-studded draft of 43 yearlings catalogued for the 2012 Inglis Easter Sale including three colts and three fillies consigned by Arrowfield.
