Redoute’s record in England

English based Redoute’s Choice filly Galician set a new track record when winning the Betfair International Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

Galician (4f Redoute’s Choice – Gweneira by Machiavellian) is a homebred for Sheikh Hamdan and she has now won 6 of her 28 starts.  The Ascot victory came at the end of a busy schedule – she had faced the starter 6 times in the last month for wins at Hamilton and Newbury.

The grey filly ran the 7 furlongs in 1.24.28s which broke the previous record set by Rainfall at the 2010 Royal Ascot meeting.  “She’s obviously an incredibly tough filly,” spokesman John Ferguson  said.  “She’s a well-bred filly conceived in Australia by Redoute’s Choice, who is known for his toughness, and she keeps delivering.”

Her dam Gweneira is a winning half-sister to the dam of French Group 1 winner Alpine Rose, now in foal to Redoute’s Choice after visiting him at The Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval this year.

Redoute’s Choice is sire of 20 stakes winners worldwide in 2012-13.  He returns next month to Arrowfield where he will parade at the Stud’s Stallion Open House from August 22 to 25.
