Readymade star for Team Williams

Linton became the latest black-type winner to graduate from the NZ Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale with a crushing G2 victory in the Alister Clark Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The Lloyd Williams owned grey gelding was coming off the back of a Cranbourne maiden and was good enough to demoralize his rivals in the time-honoured event.

Linton (3g Galileo – Our Heather by Centaine) was sold through the draft of Lyndhurst Farm at the 2008 NZ Ready to Run Sale and fetched $275,000 to the bid of Graeme Rogerson who was acting on behalf of Team Williams. He is first winner for the lightly raced Our Heather. Second dam Melrose (Sun and Shine) is a half-sister to Balmacara (NZ Breeders St-G2) who is the dam of Jamieson Valley (GCTC Magic Millions 3YO Trophy).

Lloyd Williams loves the Kiwi breed and he won the Victoria Derby – Melbourne Cup double with another (NZ) grey named Efficient.

Lloyd’s son Nick secured several lots at the 2010 Karaka Premier yearling sale including an Encosta De Lago – Liberty Walk colt for $500,000 and youngsters by Zabeel and O’Reilly for $420,000 apiece.

Staged annually in November, the NZ Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale has produced the G1 winners Able One (HK), Rockdale, Eskimo Queen, Mr Baritone and Ista Kareem (Australia) and recent Telegraph Handicap winner Vonusti (NZ).
