Rare double for Viscount

Group 1 racehorse and sire Viscount has completed his first same-city double in nearly four years at Ascot.

The Oakland Park Stud resident commenced Saturday’s meeting with the winners Pushin’ Shapes and Already Famous.

PUSHIN’ SHAPES is a homebred for Oakland Park owner Neville Duncan and he was very impressive on debut in the Westminster Equipment Plate (1000m).  The Daniel Pearce trained youngster missed the start and covered ground before surging clear in the straight.

“He’s got a lot of ability and is a pretty forward type,” Pearce said.  “I told Neville I would just be happy to see him hit the line.  He’s got a pedigree to see him over a trip.”

Pushin’ Shapes (2g ex Smooth Mover by Suave Dancer) is a younger half-brother to Bombora (Tiger Hill) who has won 7 races and over $300,000 for Bruce Saxild’s Oz Racing syndicate since claiming a juvenile race at Ascot in January 2010.

ALREADY FAMOUS notched his first win for trainer Sharon Miller in the Australian Chinese Times Hcp (2200m).  He was initially prepared by Adam Durrant before winning three races for trainer Anne King.

Already Famous (4g ex Roaster by Regal Classic) was considered for last year’s WA Derby before injury intervened.  He is owned by Kim Loxton who operates under the Ferrari Racing banner and is a half-brother to winners by Bianconi, Medal Of Honor and Oratorio (Aus).

Loxton stands Exceed And Excel sire Pitleco at his property in Serpentine.

Viscount’s last same-city double was on April 27 in 2011 with Dunrossil and Chart at Canterbury Park.  He is based at Oakland Park for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee.
