Rainbow Chases Caulfield Guineas

Dash For Cash colt Chase The Rainbow will be treading on a familiar path to the G1 Caulfield Guineas after winning the $50,000 Inglis 3YO Vase (1300m) at Geelong on Sunday.

Chase The Rainbow (3c Dash For Cash – Illusional by Redoute’s Choice) is trained by Rick Hore-Lacy and he prepared the colt’s sire and damsire to Group 1 triumphs in the Australian Guineas and Caulfield Guineas respectively.

Hore-Lacy parted with $90,000 to buy Chase The Rainbow out of the Swettenham Stud draft at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.  He recouped the purchase price at Geelong with first prizemoney plus an Inglis bonus and a Super VOBIS bonus.

“He’s got a Guineas pedigree and he’s a very relaxed horse,” Hore-Lacy said.  “I think he will get 2000 metres in time.”

Chase The Rainbow is a half-brother to the winners Illusionary (Hussonet) and Rainbow Queen (Royal Academy).  Their dam Illusional is a half-sister to G2 MVRC Crystal Mile winner Sonic Quest (Quest for Fame).  Second dam Lodore Magic (Kingdom Bay) headed the 1995-96 New Zealand 2YO Free Hcp.

Swettenham Stud will stand Dash For Cash for an $8,500 (ing gst) early-bird service fee this year.
