Queenslanders quash stigma at Magic Millions

The growing popularity of Queensland bred horses has been highlighted during the Magic Millions Gold Coast Carnival.

The prestigious event wound up on Tuesday leaving local vendors grinning from ear to ear.  “We can confidently say that the old “Queensland stigma” has finally been broken,” TBQA President Basil Nolan said.  “We are dominating on the track and have had enormous success in the sale ring.”

Glenlogan Park and Raheen Stud were the dominant Queensland studs while Darlington Park, Lyndhurst Stud all Wattle Brae Stud all enjoyed good sales.  “It just shows that if you breed a nice Queensland horse you can be well rewarded,” Nolan added.

On top of those fantastic results, there were the ongoing winners at metropolitan tracks right around the country.  “That will give buyers something to seriously think about for the March QTIS sale,” Nolan continued.  “Especially when most Queensland studs have kept their best horses for that sale.”

Lyndhurst Stud’s Sequalo dominated the Bat Out of Hell Handicap and his star sprinter Spirit of Boom took out the Goldmarket and Magic Millions Cup.

Queensland led home a Magic Millions 3YO Guineas quinella with Raheen Stud bred filly Punch On defeating Easy Running who is by Wattle Brae Stud sire Easy Rocking.

The QTIS bonus prizemoney has been extended to include three year-olds and the yearlings are also eligible for the Magic Millions Series.
