Promising Pinjarra winner by Dick Turpin

On The Turps returned from a winter spell to post a promising first-up win at Pinjarra on Sunday.

Bred, part-owned and trained by David Harrison, he was always prominent down the straight and lengthened for a three-quarter length victory in the Go Greener Synthetics Maiden (1000m).

On The Turps (3g Dick Turpin – Secret Empire by Second Empire) is bred to improve over longer journeys with further racing.  His dam is a half-sister to Group 1 stayer Scenic Shot who won two Doomben Cups and a Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington.

Secret Empire has an unraced Dick Turpin 2yo filly named Sakarya with Harrison.

Mungrup Stud sire Dick Turpin (Ire) has 20 yearlings entered for the Perth Magic Millions in February and the first to go under the hammer is also bred to stay.  Catalogued as Lot 9, the filly from Mungrup Stud mare Palace Alice is a half-sister to stakes winners Lords Ransom (G2 Perth Cup) and Palace Intruder (LR Aquanita Stakes).

Day 1 of the Magic Millions will also include a Dick Turpin colt from LR Summer Scorcher winner Scuffs (Lot 57) and a half-sister to G3 La Trice Classic winner Vampi Lass (Lot 88).

The Dick Turpin colt from Silver Empire (Second Empire) is bred on the same cross as On The Turps.  Catalogued as Lot 70, his dam was a stakes winner in South Africa and hails from the family of Mungrup sire Oratorio and his Group 1 winning half-sister Sea Siren.
