Price strikes again in Hobart

Trainer Vicki Rhind and Graebar Park’s Graeme Gathercole struck again when Bel Price kept her winning streak alive on Saturday.

Bel Price (4m Bel Esprit – Kel Price by Keltrice) had won the Veolia Classic before going for a winter spell.  She won first-up at Tattersall’s Park in November before toying with her rivals in Launceston earlier this month.  The Spreyton based mare made it four on end after working wide in the Winzenberg Hcp (1100m) back in Hobart

“Graeme has been a great supporter and has sent me a lot of nice horses over the years,” Rhind said.  “I think Bel Price is very special and is still short of her best.”

Bel Price is by Eliza Park champion Bel Esprit and will now be campaigned for starts in the G3 Bow Mistress Stakes and LR Vamos Stakes.  Graeme Gathercole’s family started Gathercole Pty Ltd in 1974 and it has ranked in the Top 20 processors and suppliers of beef, lamb and pork in Australia for the last decade.

Rhind and Gathercole combined to win Hobart’s Goodwood Hcp with Dash For Magic this time last year.  The Dash For Cash gelding hasn’t been seen since a convincing sprint win at Launceston in March.

New Zealand-born Rhind moved to Spreyton from Victoria three years ago with her partner Adrian McGregor.  They have also leased winners like Brave Mukky (Tuscanos) and Jetstyle Express (Lago Delight) from Gathercole.

Bel Price has three strains of Vain and is the fourth Bel Esprit winner out of Keltrice mares following Bellatheball, Esprit de Gain and So Real.

Gathercole is a long-time Eliza Park client and the Victorian nursery is represented by the following sires at the 2013 Tasmanian Magic Millions – Astronomer Royal (Lot 29), Bushranger (25, 55, 69, 90), Magnus (75), Sharkbite (122), Shinzig (17, 102) and Written Tycoon (9, 19, 58, 59, 130).
