Power-packed winner by God’s Own

God’s Own became the fifth Victorian-based stallion to pass $500,000 in earnings this season when Powerossa won at Pakenham on Saturday.

Powerossa has the scope to keep improving following a powerful victory in the Monomeith Stud Hcp (1200m).  “It was great to see her back in the winner’s stall,” trainer Robbie Griffiths said.  “She’s very laid-back and will get over further.”

Saturday’s result came a decade to the day since God’s Own climbed off the canvas – twice – to score one of the more remarkable victories in the G1 Caulfield Guineas.  He follows Reset, Written Tycoon, Magnus and Street Boss among local sires with a half-million in earnings in 2015-16.

Powerossa (4m God’s Own – Saffrossa by Testa Rossa) is the 10th winner for her sire in the last month.  Her dam won at Ballarat and has 2yo filly Manhattan Spirit (Statue Of Liberty) with Ellerton – Zahra racing and she has just foaled a filly by Reward For Effort.

The Pakenham winner is part-owned by breeder Peter Fadda with Bryan Newman, Geoffrey Salter, Andrew Leighton and Shane Skidmore.

God’s Own’s recent roll-call that includes South Australian stakes winner By The Grace and last-start G2 Shannon Stakes runner-up God’s In Him.  A son of super-sire Redoute’s Choice, he stands at Greta West Stud for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee.
