Power adds clout at Cambridge Stud

Sir Patrick Hogan has announced Coolmore Stud stallion Power will shuttle to Cambridge Stud for the coming breeding season.

Power (4h Oasis Dream – Frappe by Inchinor) was a Group 1 winner at the Curragh in the National Stakes at two and the Irish 2000 Guineas at three.  Trained by Aidan O’Brien, 6 of his 9 starts were at Group 1 level and he also won the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Power is a son of Juddmonte Farms champion Oasis Dream and is a grandson of Green Desert, whose sons include Desert Sun (sire of Sunline), Cape Cross (sire of Seachange) and Volksraad (Champion NZ sire 8 times).

“It’s a sire line utterly-proven in this part of the world,” Hogan said.  “He won his two-year-old debut run, so did his mother, so did his second dam and so did his third dam.”

A NZ fee for Power will be announced in the coming week.  He is currently serving his first northern mares for 12,500 euros fee at Coolmore Ireland.
