Pinnacle Thoroughbreds tops Day 2 at Inglis August Sale

Well-related mare Super Swell topped Day 2 of the Inglis Melbourne August Sale at Oaklands Junction on Friday.  She was purchased by Victorian based Pinnacle Thoroughbreds for $90,000.

Super Swell (Danbird) won races at Ballarat, Pakenham and Moe.  She is a half-sister to the Bel Esprit stakes winners Bel Mer (G1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes) and Mooring (G3 Singapore 3YO Challenge).

In all, 171 horses were sold on Friday for a total of $1.39 million.

Lightly raced Tale Of The Cat gelding Cosmic Bolt also generated spirited bidding.  Offered by Sean Buckley of Ultra Thoroughbreds, he was knocked down for $80,000 to Inglis (as agent).

“There was great competition amongst the local, interstate and international buyers and that was underlined by the excellent 93% clearance rate”, Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“In addition to the well-received Darley Reduction, the better performed racehorses and well-bred fillies in the catalogue all sold very well”

“It was also pleasing to see race fillies and mares sold to clients from Thailand and the Philippines, adding to the mares’ in-foal they secured yesterday”.

The Scone Broodmare Sale on Friday, August 26 is the next auction on the Inglis calendar.
