Trainer Harriet Paul will consider a cups campaign for Showing The Faith after his last-start victory in the TRC Derby Day Is Family Day (2100m) in Hobart.
Showing The Faith (6g Arena – Leap Of Faith by Kangaroo) has always shown promise but has taken time to fulfil that potential since transferring to Tasmania last year. “I’ve always said he would make a stayer,” Paul claimed. “He was exposed in front at the top of the straight and showed plenty of courage to hold off the challengers.”
Races like Hobart’s Brighton Cup and Summer Cups in January and the Launceston’s Night Cup in February will suit the improving Judbury-based gelding.
Showing The Faith filled out a $4,000 quadrella for a group of visiting punters from the mainland. They ventured to Hobart for a bucks party and were all dressed in Smurf costumes with the obligatory blue face-paint.
Showing The Faith is by Lomar Park sire Arena as is recent Launceston winner Status Seeker. The latter is a three-quarter brother to Arena’s 2012 LR Wagga Cup winner Coliseo.
Another close relation Kid Choisir has won three Listed sprints in Perth and Lomar Park has catalogued his half-brother by Rock Of Gibraltar as Lot 859 at the upcoming Gold Coast Magic Millions.
