Parables powers home in Silver Shadow

Darley filly Parables signalled she will take beating in the Princess Series after nailing the G3 Silver Shadow Stakes at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

Parables (3f Lonhro – Fairytales by Night Shift) simply swallowed up Solar Charged in the final stages to win the Silver Shadow running away by a length.

“I had given up hope when she was spotting them such a big start in the straight,” trainer Peter Snowden said.  “But she broke 11 seconds in the last furlong and horses don’t do that unless they’ve got exceptional ability.”

Parables will continue racing in the Furious Stakes (1400m), Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) and G1 Flight Stakes (1600m).  “Class will take them a long way,” Snowden said  “She’s very exciting and hopefully she’ll go on this spring.”

Parables won her maiden by four lengths at Warwick Farm in March and then gave a glimpse of her ability with a close third to Golden Millennium and Boto Vermel in the Listed Keith Mackay Hcp at Randwick before going out for a spell.

Lonhro has now sired 17 stakes winners among 143 individual winners at a sky-high 66% strike-rate.  His win tally also broke through the 300 mark over the weekend.

Parables is the last foal of Fairytales who won the Toy Show Hcp at the same meeting back in 1999 when Testa Rossa won the Up And Coming Stakes.

Fairytales is a half-sister to G2 VRC Blamey Stakes winner Thackeray (At Talaq) and she has also thrown the minor winners Grimm (Strategic) and Clever Hans (Viscount).
