Classy Congrats filly Pangburn returned to winning form with an effortless two-length victory at Saratoga on Friday.
With three Group placings to her credit, the Tony Dutrow trained three year-old was the standout in a $90,000 allowance event over 1800 metres and that’s the way it played out for the even-money favourite.
Pangburn (3f Congrats – It’s True Love by Yes It’s True) tracked a moderate pace before putting her rivals away without jockey Javier Castellano moving a muscle in the final furlong. There are several black-type options ahead although the Saratoga summer meet will close before she’s ready to race again.
The well-travelled daughter of Vinery sire Congrats has raced at 7 different venues in 9 lifetime starts earning $235,671 for Shortleaf Stable owner John Ed Anthony. She cost $130,000 at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky yearling sale.
Pangburn won on debut at Ellis Park in July 2014 and began this year with a second victory at Oaklawn Park in February. Her black-type placings have come in the G2 Pocahontas Stakes, G3 Honeybee Stakes and G3 Iowa Oaks.
