Outdoor outstanding at Bendigo

Arrowfield champion Redoutes’s Choice sired his second maiden winner from a Group 1 mare within a week at Bendigo on Thursday.

Outdoor (3f Redoute’s Choice – Serenade Rose by Stravinsky) broke through on debut with a fast finishing two length victory in the Clapp The Good Guys Maiden (1300).  She is a Darley homebred and is trained by Anthony Freedman.

Last week, Redoutes’s Choice sired the very impressive Canterbury maiden winner Barbados who is out of G1 winning sprinter Virage de Fortune.

Both Barbados and Outdoor are members of Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation and both look stakes winners of the future.

Outdoor is a daughter of Serenade Rose who was the champion filly of her generation winning the G1 VRC Oaks, AJC Oaks and STC Arrowfield Stud Stakes.  “She couldn’t have been more impressive,” jockey Ben Melham said.  “I just let her find her feet and she found the line very strongly.”

Tragically, Serenade Rose died last month after foaling a Lonhro colt.  She also has a yearling filly by Street Cry.

Barbados and Outdoor are part of a burgeoning roll-call of three year-old winners by Redoute’s Choice.  He has established a huge lead in the Australian 3YO sires’ premiership in the winners’ category.

The Arrowfield champion has sired 26 individual domestic 3YO winners plus another two in NZ headed by stakes winning colt Burgundy.
