The New Zealand breeding industry’s modern day great O’Reilly will command a service fee of $60,000 (+ gst) at Waikato Stud in 2013.
“Very few stallions worldwide can boast the record and results that O’Reilly consistently delivers each and every season,” said Waikato Stud’s Mark Chittick. “He’s already won the Hong Kong and New Zealand sires’ premiership two times each and is poised to add yet another New Zealand sire premiership to his tally.”
The champion sire of 64 stakes winners and 14 individual Group 1 winners has registered 10 stakes winners during 2012-13 – a figure that he has remarkably averaged over the last seven seasons. “It’s pretty amazing what he has been able to do. He was a Horse of the Year himself and has gone on to produce outstanding two-year-olds, sprinters to two-milers, broodmares and on all sorts of going and all over the world.”
This season his 10 stakes winners have been headlined by the Group 1 winners Shamexpress and Sacred Falls. “Shamexpress beat them at their own game in Australia last weekend and his other outstanding colt, Sacred Falls, had the measure of all that he encountered in New Zealand,” Chittick said. “This weekend alone, he’s got Sacred Falls in the Randwick Guineas and the three chances High Fashion, Chandelier and Emerald Queen in the New Zealand Oaks.”
