Onemorenomore foals in fashion at Magic Millions

Vinery sire Onemorenomore topped trade on Day 3 of the Magic Millions National Sale with a trio of six-figure foals.  Wednesday was the first of two sessions of weanling sales on the Gold Coast.

The Patinack Farm colt from classy Melbourne based sprinter Ocean Bridge headed the leader-board.  He’s a half brother to Sydney based stakes winner Run for Wilson and was purchased by a NSW buyer for $200,000.

Vinery also sold a Onemorenomore colt from Oomph that made $150,000 and a filly out of Spurcent that cost $105,000.

Vinery general manager Peter Orton flagged the popularity of Onemorenomore when his first foals arrived earlier this season.  ”His first book contained the best mares of any young stallion in the Hunter Valley,” Orton said last September.  ”We’re delighted with his foals.  We certainly had an expectation considering the quality and class of the stallion.”

Onemorenomore (Red Ransom) was a racehorse of the highest calibre winning the G1 AJC Champagne Stakes (1600m) by four lengths ahead of Tickets and Manhattan Rain.   There were 145 mares in his first book including 25 stakes winners.

He occupies the same barn at Vinery as his illustrious sire Red Ransom.  “Onemorenomore is a magnificent looking horse with a great pedigree,” Orton added.  “When Red Ransom died, we were very keen to secure a son to take his place on our roster.”

Wednesday’s turnover reached $4.76 million at an average price of $32,651.  That was a significant 46% increase on the corresponding session last year.  The clearance rate was 76%.

The Magic Millions National Sale continues on Thursday with a second and final session of weanlings.
