Old Fashioned leads final session at Ocala Sale

A first-crop colt by Old Fashioned sold for $55,000 to head the final session leader-board at the Ocala yearling sale on Thursday.

The Old Fashioned colt was a consigned by Bobby Jones Equine and was purchased by Greg Gilchrist.  His dam Catspaw (Storm Cat) is related to G2 Del Mar Derby winner Banned.

Old Fashioned (Unbridled’s Song) won the G2 Remsden Stakes and G3 Southwest Stakes before retiring to Taylor Made Stallions.  His first crop have been very popular in the auction ring this year topped by a $360,000 filly at Saratoga earlier this month.

The third and final session at Ocala saw 189 lots average $11,264.  That was up 13% and the median also rose 14% to $8,000.  The clearance rate steadied at 77%.
