The catalogue for New Zealand’s last breeding stock auction of the year for the northern region – NZB’s Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale is now available online.
To be held at the Karaka on Friday, August 2, the Winter Sale will offer buyers a final chance to purchase breeding stock for the upcoming season with 82 entries catalogued – 58 lots are broodmares with 48 of them having been covered last season.
Sires with broodmares in the Sale include Centaine, Redoute’s Choice, Savabeel, Stravinksy and Zabeel who has one of the largest drafts. The damsire of 110 stakes winners, Zabeel was New Zealand and Australia’s Champion Broodmare Sire last season and he heads both tables this season with just a few weeks of racing remaining.
Mares by Zabeel in the Sale include:
Lot 10: Kazak, the dam of two winners including the stakes placed two-year-old Lol.
Lot 49: Group 3 placed Danceabeel, dam of the stakes winners Video Star and Ishiabeel. Served by Showcasing.
The Sale also includes mares who were served by young sires Iffraaj, Cape Blanco, Jimmy Choux, Makfi, Redwood and Showcasing.
Other catalogue highlights include:
Lot 22: American Group 3 placed More Than Ready Mare Quick Notice who was served by Makfi.
Lot 24: Stakes winning mare Royal Show (Deputy Governor) who is the dam of Folding Gear (G2 Autumn Classic & G3 Naturalism Stakes). Served by Iffraaj.
Lot 56: Group 1 winning mare Emerald (Grosvenor). Served by Iffraaj.
The Sale also includes yearlings (2), two-year-olds (5), unraced horses (4) and racehorses (13) with highlights including:
Lot 67: Pins filly from Squall (Black Minnaloushe). Family of Group 1 winner Planet Rock and stakes winners Sabrage & Pinnacles.
Lot 77: Pins half-sister to this season’s G3 winner Diademe.
The Sale will also feature 24 horses owned by the Estate of Jim Campin which will be offered on an unreserved basis.
