NZ Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale online

New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2013 Karaka Premier Sale catalogue is now available online.

The 2013 Premier Sale catalogue features a hot line-up of 441 yearlings that will be offered over the two-day Sale on Monday and Tuesday, January 28 & 29.

With 106 yearlings from stakes-winning mares and 123 siblings to stakes winners, the 2013 Premier Sale features siblings to a number of star performers including:

34 siblings to Group 1 winners including the four time Group 1 & 2012 Cox Plate winner Ocean Park (Lot 330) as well as Glamour Puss (Lot 130), Lights of Heaven (Lot 182), El Segundo (Lot 285), Rollout the Carpet (Lot 284), Norzita (Lot 421), Ambitious Dragon (Lot 164) and more.

22 yearlings from Group 1 winning mares including the likes of Ethereal (Lot 132), Seachange (Lot 332), Aqua d’Amore (Lot 18), Calveen (Lot 52), Lashed (Lot 223) and La Bella Dama (Lot 208).

The Karaka 2013 Sale Series is looking to capitalise on another hugely successful season for New Zealand horses around the world.  In Australia, horses like Ocean Park (NZ) are flying the NZ flag, continuing a consistency of success that has seen NZ win five of the last six Cox Plates, and claim almost a quarter of Australia’s Group 1 races over the last five seasons despite making up just over 5% of the racing population.

In a landmark season in Asia, NZB was the leading auction house in Hong Kong for stakes wins for the second consecutive season with 13 stakes victories.  In addition, Karaka graduates won 8 of the 11 2012 HKJC Champion Awards including a clean sweep of the Champion Sprinter, Miler, Middle-Distance and Stayer titles, plus another Horse of the Year Award.

In Singapore, the Karaka sale ring has unearthed another star in Super Easy (Darci Brahma) who went unbeaten in 12 starts, equalling the record set by fellow graduate Better Than Ever (French Deputy).  Super Easy has also become the second Karaka graduate to clean sweep the 3YO Triple Crown in the last three years.

These results just scrape the surface of achievements that New Zealand bred horses and Karaka graduates have attained over the last season which have included stakes wins in America, Australia, England, Hong Kong, Ireland, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa.

The 2013 Karaka Premier Sale will feature the progeny of 57 leading sires from around the world and include representation by some of the most highly sought after stallions: Darci Brahma (23), Encosta de Lago (9), Fastnet Rock (15), High Chaparral (28), O’Reilly (47), Pentire (25), Pins (33), Redoute’s Choice (4), Savabeel (13), Thorn Park (11) and Zabeel (44).

A phenomenal sire, Zabeel has a strong draft of 44 yearlings in the Premier Sale.  Last season Zabeel was crowned the Champion Broodmare Sire in both Australia and New Zealand for the first time with his daughters producing the likes of Silent Achiever, Atlantic Jewel and Southern Speed.  The Premier Sale will also feature 42 yearlings from Zabeel mares including:

Lot 231, the sister by O’Reilly to the multiple Group 1 winner and exciting young sire Alamosa and the colt from the Group 2 winning Zabeel mare Lafleur (Lot 218), dam of Group 3 winner Amaryllis (Red Ransom) and stakes winner Papilio (Redoute’s Choice).

Lot 252, the Fastnet Rock half-brother to the HK-1 Champions & Chater Cup winner Liberator (Encosta de Lago) and the filly from the Group 1 winning mare Episode (Scenic) (Lot 129).

These sires are supported by 13 Premier Sale first season sires with yearlings at Karaka for the first time including Big Brown (2), Denman (4), Duporth (4), Manhattan Rain (1), Nicconi (1), Nom de Jeu (4), Onemorenomore (1), Red Giant (5), Road to Rock (3), Swiss Ace (2), Tavistock (14) and Thewayyouare (1).
