New record for Rapid Redux in North America

Rapid Redux created a new North American record of 20 straight wins when he defeated three rivals at Mountaineer Park on Monday evening.

Rapid Redux (5g Pleasantly Perfect – Thiscatsforcaryl by Storm Cat) led at every panel as a long odds-on favourite to score by four lengths at the West Virginia venue.

He surpassed the old mark of 19 held by Zenyatta and Peppers Pride.

Since being claimed by his current connections for $6,250 at Penn National in October 2010, Rapid Redux has captured 21 of his 22 starts at a variety of venues.

His only loss in that time came in his second outing for trainer David Wells when he displaced his palate.  A minor throat operation corrected the problem and he has now accrued $342,229 from an overall career card of 40: 26-1-1.

Bred by Fortress Pacific Equine in Kentucky, he is a half-brother to stakes performers Be Like Mike and Sacred Journey who are both by Unbridled’s Song.

Their dam Thiscatsforcaryl is a half-sister to the dam of Australian Group 1 performer French Lady.  The Entrepreneur filly was runner-up to Wild Iris in the 2004 AJC Australian Oaks.

Rapid Redux began his career with trainer Kelly Breen and, after dropping into claiming company, was scooped up by Wells and owner Robert L. Cole Jr.
