Muzdaher off the mark at Townsville

Former Queensland based stallion Muzdaher was represented by his first winner at Townsville on Tuesday.

Simon Bon Rocket (2g Muzdaher – Bon Simone by Simonstad) settled midfield and finished too well in the straight to score by over a length for owner-trainer John Manzelmann.  The gelding defeated his more favoured stablemates Talk Tough (Zaha) and Rocket Billy Rebel (Monashee Mountain).

Muzdaher (Stravinsky) was a Flemington juvenile winner for Sheikh Hamdan and was stakes placed in the McKenzie Stakes and Creswick Stakes at Moonee Valley as a three year-old.

Manzelmann bought him at the 2009 Inglis Great Southern Sale and the NZ bred stallion won at his only start in Queensland.  The Mackay horseman stood him at stud before accepting an offer from China last year.

Simon Bon Rocket was sold for $25,000 by Rocket Lodge (as agent) at the 2012 Capricornia yearling sale.

Muzdaher topped last month’s Capricornia yearling sale with a half-brother to Capricornia 2YO Classic winner Mythologist (Hidden Dragon).  The colt was offered by Laurel Glen Equine and made $40,000 to Magic Millions acting for a Queensland client.
