More Than Ready filly Blooms in Baltimore

More Than Ready sired the top-priced filly at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2YO Sale in Baltimore on Monday.

The Vinery champion’s filly from stakes winning mare Exotic Bloom made $510,000 to Stonestreet Stables bloodstock advisor John Moynihan.

Last Wednesday, she turned heads drilling the fastest 200m breeze-up in 10.20s and then her older half-sister Stopchargingmaria followed up with a Group 2 victory in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at nearby Pimlico on Friday.

“The win on Friday didn’t hurt,” Moynihan said.  “But this filly has talent, she looks fast.  She will be a wonderful addition to our broodmare band if she goes out and wins a stakes race.”

Stonestreet Stables had bought Exotic Bloom at last year’s Fasig-Tipton November Sale.  “This filly has got similarities to the mare but she is very More Than Ready – her colour and her stature.

“We know the mare has the ability to get a good horse.  It gives you a little bit of confidence that this filly could also be good.”

Stopchargingmaria is the first foal from Exotic Bloom and was among last year’s top juveniles romping home by 10 lengths in the G3 Tempted Stakes and capping the year by taking the G2 Demoiselle Stakes.  She was also Group 1 placed in the Spinaway Stakes and Frizette Stakes.

Last Friday’s Black-Eyed Susan win was a timely result for her half-sister and More Than Ready could have some updates of his own this Saturday.

More Than Ready’s up-and-coming sprinter Knoydart is gunning for his first Group 1 in the Doomben 10,000 and hours later his South African based colt Banaadeer will start in the G1 Sun Medallion (1200m) at Scottsville.

On Sunday at the Magic Millions National Sale, there are three More Than Ready foals catalogued from the Teeley Assets dispersal starting with Lot 202, a half-sister to G1 Flight Stakes winner Cheeky Choice.
