More black-type for Master Of Design

Creativity claimed the latest black-type for Swettenham Stud sire Master of Design in the Listed VRC Festival Of Racing Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained filly began awkwardly before mustering speed to lead down the straight.  She gave ground in the closing stages to finish third but the promising debut pleased her connections.

Creativity (2f Master Of Design – Voltara by More Than Ready) was a $160,000 buy for Barrie and Midge Griffiths at the 2015 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.  Her dam’s first foal to race Comearoundsundown has won five races and been stakes-placed in Adelaide.

Ellerton and Zahra went back to the Melbourne Premier last week and bought a Master of Design – Lovely Rita colt for $60,000.  “Loved this one,” EZ Racing relayed on social media.  “And Creativity is a smart filly for the future for the Griffiths family.”

Master Of Design had a half-dozen lots change hands at Oaklands for an average over $66,000.

Flemington’s feature meeting on Saturday provided another update for Master Of Design when Palentino won the G1 Australian Guineas.  He has a Master Of Design two year-old half-sister named Bella Francesca on the books with Tasmanian trainer Bill Ryan.

Master Of Design received his first black-type courtesy of Kinetic Design who was runner-up in the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial Stakes in October.  The Stuart Webb trained filly came from last to finish midfield in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes on February 27 and she has been nominated for the G2 Victorian Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington this Saturday.

The next Master Of Design yearling for sale is the filly from Zerprise Us All (Lot 41) at next week’s Adelaide Magic Millions and she has received significant updates since the catalogue was printed.  Her dam’s half-sister Zerprise Journey has won 3 of her last 5 starts for trainer Mick Huxtable at Morphettville.
