Military magic in McLachlan Stakes

Military Grace continued her march to the $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic with a strong victory in the Listed B J McLachlan Stakes at Doomben on Sunday.

Trainer Gillian Heinrich couldn’t have been more pleased with the result s the winner’s stablemate Internal Revenue (Exceed And Excel) was fourth in a competitive race.  “There is still plenty of improvement in Military Grace,” Heinrich said.  “She will be spot on come the Magic Millions.”

Military Grace (2f General Nediym – Searchlights by Belong to Me) was a $100,000 buy from Baramul Stud at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale.  From just three runs she’s already earned $178,000 and Boxing Day’s black-type has boosted her residual value.

The General Nediym filly is from an unraced three-quarter sister to G3 Blue Diamond Preview winner World Peace and the Gerry Harvey owned sire Conatus.  Her second dam Light Up the World (Rory’s Jester) was a G2 Challenge Stakes winner at Randwick.

Military Grace’s stablemate Military Rose won the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.  “Mentally and physically she’s very similar to Military Rose,” Heinrich explained.  “She’s a lot better at 1200m.”
