Midnight Interlude to stand in India

USA Group 1 winning colt Midnight Interlude has joined Excellent Art to stand in India.

Coolmore Stud dispatched Excellent Art to Poonawalla Stud last week and USA breeder Arnold Zetcher accepted an offer for Midnight Interlude from Sohna Stud on Thursday.

Midnight Interlude won the G1 Santa Anita Derby for Zetcher and trainer Bob Baffert.  He returned after a 2011 Triple Crown campaign to claim the LR Tsunami Slew Stakes at Hollywood Park.

He is a son of Yarradale Stud shuttler War Chant and NZ bred mare Midnight Kiss.  She also foaled War Chant’s 2012 Del Mar Oceanside Stakes winner Midnight Crooner.

Midnight Interlude was passed-in at the Barretts January Sale in California on January 22.  “We did have some extensive interest, mostly from international buyers,” Zetcher said.  “The horse has been good to us.  We wanted to make sure we found a nice place for him to be a stallion.”
