Mega Dream tops Barretts Del Mar Sale

Medaglia d’Oro stakes winner Mega Dream topped the inaugural Barretts Del Mar Sale in California on Sunday.

Mega Dream made $300,000 to the bid of Mersad Metanovic Bloodstock.  The five year-old mare had won the LR Great Lady M Stakes at Hollywood Park in May before finishing second in the G2 Royal Mile Heroine Stakes earlier this month.

Mega Dream was owned by the partnership of Jerry Durant, Barry Arnason and Metanovic after being purchased for $40,000 at the Keeneland January Sale earlier this year.

Mersad Metanovic Bloodstock also signed for Fightin Mean Mad, a first-crop daughter of Lifestyle (Indian Charlie) who sold for $200,000.  Consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds, the two-year-old filly had won on debut at Arlington Park by nearly four lengths on June 30.

The sale was launched for owners to purchases horses who can race at the Del Mar meeting which ends on September 5.  Trade reached $1.27 million for 27 horses that changed hands at an average of $47,166.
