Swettenham Stud bred filly Meeznah landed her second feature win of the year in the G2 Park Hill Stakes (2900m) at Doncaster on Thursday.
Meeznah (4f Dynaformer – String Quartet by Sadler´s Wells) routed her rivals by more than three lengths under Frankie Dettori. It followed a record breaking result in the G3 Lillie Langtry Stakes (2800m) at Goodwood in July.
“This race has always been the plan so I’m delighted to get it right,” trainer David Lanigan said. “We entered her for the Melbourne Cup but will concentrate on fillies races coming up at Ascot and in France.”
Meeznah was bred in Kentucky and sold on behalf of Swettenham by Hill ‘n’ Dale Agency at the 2008 Keeneland January Sale. She cost $120,000 and is raced by Saif Ali and Saeed H Altayer
The Park Hill winner is by Americain’s sire Dynaformer and her dam String Quartet was a Listed winner of the Prix de Thiberville at Deauville for Robert Sangster.
String Quartet is a sister to leading South African based sire Casey Tibbs. The mare’s three year-old filly Lady Rosamunde (Maria’s Mon) has won over 2000m in England this year and she has a yearling colt by Lanwades Stud / Rich Hill shuttler Sir Percy.
