Manzelmann on a mission with Rocket To Glory

Trainer John Manzelmann will welcome Queensland flyer Rocket To Glory back to his stables on Thursday.

Manzelmann and his Shovhog gelding will be on a mission this campaign after the disappointment of missing out on the QTIS Champion 2YO Award in Brisbane on Saturday night.

“He’s been spelling at Craiglea Stud and Stan (Johnston) told me he’s bucking his brand off,” Manzelmann said on Tuesday.  “Our main goal with him will be the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January.”

Rocket To Glory’s (3g Shovhog – English Summer by Dodge) has been off the scene since winning the $250,000 Geon Group QTIS 600 Plate (1400m) at Eagle Farm on July 9.

It was his fourth win in a row following a hat-trick of QTIS Bonus wins at Townsville (2) and Rockhampton.  His connections collected $403,000 in prizemoney and bonuses

Rocket To Glory is part-owned by Manzelmann’s wife Stacey and several partners from Longreach.  He cost them just $20,000 from Raheen Stud at the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 yearling sale.

Manzelmann also part-owns and trains his older brother Rocket On By.  After an unlucky run in the Townsville Guineas in July, the gelding saluted at Mackay and then won again on the first day of the Cairns Cup carnival last Friday.
