Eliza Park International and Caulfield trainer Mick Price have produced a second two year-old stakes winner at Morphettville in May.
Dead Or Alive (Wanted) won the LR Oaklands Plate (1600m) a fortnight ago and stablemate Prince Of Brooklyn (Magnus) finished right over the top of his rivals in the G3 National Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.
“He’s a big, strong powerful colt and the trip away will be good for him, too,” Price said. “I expected him to run well first-up and he’s got a good future.”
Price won the 2014 National Stakes with Moonovermanhattan who returned as a three year-old to claim the G2 Moonee Valley Vase. The Caulfield trainer believes this year’s winner is another classic prospect of the future.
“He’s out of a Zabeel mare and will have no trouble getting a mile. We will seriously consider a spell now with a view to having him ready to go in the spring.”
Prince Of Brooklyn races for part-owner and breeder Chris Marks and is a younger brother to Duke Of Brunswick who was beaten a lip at Caulfield just minutes before the National Stakes. Their dam Tristabeel descends from Australian Horse of the Year Research and her latest foal is a yearling filly by Magnus.
Magnus (Flying Spur) has sired the winners of 127 races this season and is in third place among Victorian based stallions behind EPI champion Bel Esprit (181) and Written Tycoon (133).
Eliza Park International will stand Magnus for a $17,600 (inc gst) service fee this season. For bookings, phone Mark Lindsay on 0416 334 338.
