The 2012 Perth Magic Millions has been streamlined and its Premier 1 session will be restricted to approximately 130 lots. The 2011 Premier session comprised more than 280 yearlings.
The 2012 Premier 1 session will start the Belmont Park Sale on Tuesday, February 14. The Sale will then continue on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16. Another 200 lots will be offered on Sunday, February 19.
Magic Millions WA manager Murray Tillett said he was delighted with the standard of yearlings to be offered in the opening session. The judging panel assessed almost 700 yearlings.
“We’ve had to adopt a tighter approach to our sale schedule in order to draw more leading international and interstate buyers,” Tillett told WAN journalist Ernie Manning on Wednesday. “Our absolute top sale entrants need to be compacted into a Premier 1 session.
“Visiting owners and trainers don’t have enough time to make lengthy stays at sales. At the last Perth yearling sale, a number of buyers left before some of the most valuable youngsters were offered.”
Apart from leading local sires, the 2012 Perth Magic Millions will include yearlings by Lonhro, Fastnet Rock, Encosta De Lago, Commands, Not A Single Doubt and Starcraft.
