Vinery sire Excites has a live chance for the $2 million Magic Millions Classic after Madame Fly scored a long-priced victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
Madame Fly (2f Excites – McFly by Perugino) fired a $26 broadside in the Vili’s Pies Plate (1000m) while boom filly She’s Bella faded to finish fourth. “She improving all the time and we will start her in the Wyong Magic Millions in a fortnight,” trainer Robert Davies said. “She should make the Magic Millions field if she finishes in the placings there.”
Excites won the G1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes at two and returned the following spring to finish second to Wonderful World in the G1 Caulfield Guineas. He is a son of Danewin and is an elder half-brother to Duporth and Tickets.
Madame Fly joins brilliant Adelaide youngster Excites Zelady among the Vinery sire’s latest crop of two year-olds. Earlier this year, his precocious colt Red Excitement won the Lightning Ridge 2YO Plate at Canberra.
Owner David Walker bought Madame Fly from Raheen Stud for $50,000 at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions. ”Vin Cox helped me pick her out,” Walker recalled. “You dream of having a runner in the Magic Millions Classic and it would be great if she could qualify.”
Her dam McFly won five races in Melbourne and Adelaide and she also earned black-type at Flemington during the 2006 Melbourne Cup carnival. Raheen has a yearling half-sister to Madame Fly by Yarraman Park sire I Am Invincible and the mare foaled a Rothesay colt in September.
Excites stands at Vinery for a $6,600 (inc gst) service fee.
