Zizou filly Tiarazou staked her claim for part of a $500,000 Magic Millions bonus with a brilliant victory at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Tiarazou (2f Zizou – Tenant’s Tiara by Beautiful Crown) firmed into an odds-on favourite prior to the Optima Wealth Solutions Plate (900m) and the result was never in doubt. She was always travelling sweetly for Tony Pattillo before accelerating to a three length victory over In The Sky Rocket (Jet Spur).
The Magic Millions has introduced a women-only incentive for next month’s $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) and that was the catalyst for a 20 ladies to join the Pink Diamonds syndicate that races Tiarazou.
“Some – like me – are new to racing while others have raced horses before,” manager Marion Hardy said. “We’re all thrilled to see her win that easily and hopefully we can be back here at the Gold Coast on Magic Millions day.”
The first horse home in the Magic Millions Classic on January 12 which is completely owned or leased by female owners receives a $325,000 bonus. The second horse home earns $100,000, third home $50,000 and fourth home $25,000.
Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus) stands at Turangga Farm and Tiarazou is the first winner from his second crop. There have been 8 winners among his initial crop headed by Singapore based G2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe winner Pitstop.
Tiarazou’s dam Tenant’s Tiara won four races for Dynamic Syndications including the Listed AJC Eskimo Prince Stakes. Turangga Farm owner Stuart Ramsey bought her for $130,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
The mare has foaled Zizou colts for the last two years and her yearling has been catalogued as Lot 756 at next month Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale.
