Trainer John Luttrell has rejuvenated Dangerous Geegee since the gelding joined his Brighton stables.

Dangerous Geegee (6g Dangerous – Melodies by Big Boost) gave former Queensland apprentice Matthew Milford his first Apple Isle win at Launceston on Sunday.

It was also a first for Luttrell who has only had the horse for a few months.  “I already trained a few for Paul Geard and he sent me Dangerous Geegee hoping for a change of luck,” Luttrell said earlier this week.

“He ran a good third first-up for us at Hobart after an 8 month spell.  He improved out of sight after that run and then he turned in the best gallop by one of my horses since I’ve been training at Brighton.”

Dangerous Geegee went right on with the job with a two length victory in the F & W Stewart Handicap (1200m).  “He’s a nice cut of a horse and showed a good turn of foot last Sunday.”

Luttrell will back him up over 1100m at Launceston next Monday, August 15.  “He’s pulled up a treat and is as sound as a bell.  I’m confident there are more wins to come.”

Dangerous Geegee opened the season on a winning note for his sire Dangerous.  The Greta West stallion came close the day before when his gelding One Way Ticket was runner-up at Randwick.  

Dangerous Geegee is a homebred for Paul and Elizabeth Geard.  They bought his dam Melodies from Greg Mance at the 2005 Inglis June Sale when she was is foal to Dangerous.

Dangerous has sired 157 winners of 483 races and top of the list is Tasmanian hero Conquering.  He won 23 races and earned over $905,000 in prizemoney before bowing out with a Listed victory in the Thomas Lyons Stakes in February.

Dangerous (Danehill) will stand for a $2,200 (inc gst) service fee at Greta West this year.
