The growing stature of Redoute’s Choice as a sire of sires escalated at Cranbourne on Sunday when Luckyi’mbarefoot won the PFD Food Services 2YO Maiden (1300m).
Luckyi’mbarefoot is the first winner for Undoubtedly who scored a G1 victory in the 2005 Blue Diamond Stakes. He was based at Three Bridges Thoroughbreds in Victoria and becomes the 12th winner-getter by Redoute’s Choice.
He joins the following sons of the Arrowfield champion who are already off the mark – Not A Single Doubt (Arrowfield), Legion (Larneuk), Stromberg Carlson (Raheen), Stratum (Widden), Snitzel (Arrowfield), Bradbury’s Luck (Glenlogan Park), Al Samer (Emirates Park), God’s Own (Eliza Park), Keffelstein (Spring Valley), Break The Vault (Oaklands) and Duelled (Dormello – NZ).
Undoubtedly retired to Paringa Park in 2006 and covered 83 mares at a 74% success rate. He encountered fertility problems the following year when his PPT levels plummeted to 22%.
Undoubtedly served a restricted book of 52 mares in 2008 and his fertility recovered to 75%. Three Bridges owner Peter Liston limited his book to 30 last year and over 20 of those mares returned positive.
Liston sold Undoubtedly earlier this year and he will stand privately in 2010.
Undoubtedly was bred by Toorak Park owner Harry Perks and sold for $190,000 at the 2004 Adelaide Magic Millions. Redoute’s Choice got him from the Don’t Say Halo mare Kiss A Halo who also foaled the Group winning juveniles Regal Kiss and Toorak Thunder.
Luckyi’mbarefoot had shown plenty of promise for Moe trainer Tracey Templeton in earlier campaigns this season. He finished fourth to Marmaa in the $250,000 Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley in October and fourth again to Not A Pretender in the $250,000 Inglis Premier at Caulfield in March.
Luckyi’mbarefoot was bred Armidale Stud’s Robyn Whishaw and made $47,000 at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale. He is from Armidale’s talented filly Vickers (Flying Spur) who won city races at Flemington, Sandown and Caulfield.
She had already thrown winners by Swettenham Stud sires Hold That Tiger and Dash for Cash and she has a rising 2yo filly by Armidale resident Savoire Vivre.
