Luck’s a fortune for Fifi

Glenlogan Park stallion Bradbury’s Luck claimed his second stakes win in consecutive Saturdays when Fire up Fifi scored a narrow victory in the LR Just Now Hcp (1300m) at Eagle Farm.

Seven days ago, Bradbury’s Luck gelding Luckygray saluted in the G1 Kingston Town Stakes at Ascot.  The Perth based star has won 12 of his 18 starts and Fire Up Fifi is also building up a very impressive race record having now won or placed in 15 of her 22 starts.

“This mare just keeps answering every question we ask of her,” trainer Robert Heathcote said.  “It wasn’t all that long ago that she was running around in midweek grade and now here she is winning in stakes company at a distance that is definitely short of her best.”

Fire Up Fifi (5m Bradbury’s Luck – Manicured by West By West) cost a mere $5,5000 when offered by Baraton Stud at the 2009 Magic Millions 2YO HIT Sale.  She was catalogued by Baraton Stud and was purchased by G Billinghurst.

Her dam Manicured won races at Beaudesert and Gold Coast when trained by Alan Bailey.  She is a half-sister to New York stakes winner Identity (Personal Flag).

Heathcote intends to step Fire Up Fifi up another notch in the coming weeks before giving her a quick rest.  “She will go to the Listed Bernborough Handicap in two weeks and then we will send her to the paddock with next year’s winter carnival in mind.  Sending her out after that run will be perfect as it will have been a relatively light preparation and she should be going out on top of her game.”
